from the "don't try this at home, parents" file if you have a small baby, say around 4 1/2 months, and he's been bringing his food back up, all over his clothes, your clothes, the floor etc, then don't pick him up, hold him in your hands above your head, and bounce him up and down. sure, you'll think it's fun at first. sure, he'll giggle and smile. trust me, it won't turn out well.
notify from 5 november i'm away for a bit over 2 weeks for work. if you want to know when i'm back writing, then (if you were on my previous list, i've already gotcha!)

November
3 - Rain Brings An Enjoyable Sort Of Melancholy I'm not really looking forward to being away. Sure, there's a certain charm in travelling, and it will be good for the job, and I will enjoy it mostly. But I'm not really looking forward to it.
It's raining now. Dark outside, rain pelting straight down, no wind. I love it like this. The sound of rain. A sound to fall asleep to.
Been a while since I've listened to Liz Phair, but I did tonight doing the dishes. She is very cool. Sometimes I look at all my music and don't know what to play. Nothing seems quite what I'm looking for. The best thing is to pick something. Once listening, I'll remember how good it is.
I watch very little tv now. I will read the paper and watch the news on tv. Tonight, there was a magazine type thing in the news about a solo mum and her 10 year old son. They'd won a new, dream home and a party with the All Blacks in a competition run by Coca Cola. Everyone ran around carrying coke bottles and wearing coke t-shirts and played volleyball in the backyard of the new house with a coke ball. Does it make a difference that a solo mum and her 10 year old son won? She said they never usually bought coke, couldn't afford it, but did this time so they could enter the competition. Am I cynical to think she's been used, or merely arrogant?
Deb's just kissed me goodnight. I shan't be long up. Tonight's a night for cuddling and falling asleep in arms and listening to rain on the roof.
