December 30 - Ain't Holidays Grand!

Yesterday I hired this 4.5 cubic metre skip (rubbish container) and filled it with trees/branches/leaves/clippings from the garden. Plus some old doors and shelving we'd had sitting outside the front door for the last 9 months.

My legs and arms got scratched repeatedly carrying stuff down to the skips. I've got these big scars on my legs now. I have this childish sense of being a real man when I get scars from physical activity!

I've got another skip coming tomorrow, 7.5 cubic metres, to finish off the garden stuff and then we'll clean out the garden shed. It's been used as a dumping ground to the extent that you can just open the door and step inside. Then everything is piled up in the rest of the space.

Today felt almost like an escape. We went into town for lunch and a look-see around. Apart from Christmas at my parents, and the odd trip to the supermarket, this was the first time we'd really left home for almost a week. It felt good to be walking around.

We've got no money right now, so couldn't buy anything. Of course that meant we looked in shops where I'd like to buy things. Bookstores and record shops.

One day I'd just love to be able to buy books and cd's without any guilt over spending the money. Without any thought over spending the money. Just buy whatever takes my eye. I could have easily spent $500 on cd's. Another $100 in each of the three bookstores we looked at. One day!

We came home, and I've just snoozed for a couple of hours. Debbie and Matthew are still asleep. And it's only 5.10pm.

Ain't holidays grand!
