Tree Like a Dancing Wolf
Okay, so I can see a dancing wolf. Maybe it's the drugs I'm on.

Music Meme
I got tagged by Ralph ages ago for this meme, and had written most of it, but only just finished it off tonight.
Total volume of music on my computer:
12.9 GB
Last [four] CD[s] I bought [or received]:
Okay, so I'm taking liberties with the meme, but what the heck.
1. The Tribalistas, self-titled
Three Brazilian musicians - each artists in their own right - came together and called themselves the Tribalistas. One reviewer likened them to a threesome of Tom Waits, Bjork and ?uestlove. Well, I don't think the music is quite that weird, but it is a bit different. I love this album. Every song is great.
2. Fat Freddys Drop, Live from the Matterhorn
A local Wellington band. Wonderful jazz/dub.
3. Bruce Springsteen, Devils and Dust
There are many Bruce Springsteen albums that I don't particularly care for. This isn't one of them. This is a wonderful, earthy, acoustic album that I'll be listening to for a long time to come.
4. The Vulgar Boatmen, Please Panic
Late 80s/early 90s band. Great music.
Favorite song from that [those] album[s]:
From the Tribalistas - Passe em Casa. Very boppy and upbeat.
From Devils and Dust - All I'm Thinking About Is You. I love the huskiness/hoarseness of Bruce Springsteen's voice. This is a song that I can't help but move to.
Song playing now:
Got a Thing on My Mind from the album Dap-Dippin' with Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings
Songs [or bands] I listen to a lot or that mean a lot to me:
The Arcade Fire - the entire album Funeral. There is not a song on this album that isn't stunning.
Several songs from M.I.A.'s Piracy Funds Terrorism V.1 - Amazon (Diplo mix), PoP, Sunshowers, MIA.
Steal Your Love by Lucinda Williams
Astral Weeks by Van Morrison
Roadrunner by Jonathan Richman and the Modern Lovers
Anything from Bob Dylan's Blonde on Blonde
Kiss Off from the Violent Femmes' first album. Or any other song from that album.
Gloria by Patti Smith
88 Lines About 44 Women by the Nails ("Deborah was a Catholic girl, she held out to the bitter end, Carla was a different type, she's the one who put it in.")
Tom Waits is God.
Townes Van Zandt, Johnny Cash. The Flatlanders.
No wait, Lou Reed is God, too.
The Velvet Underground.
Iggy Pop.
David Bowie, The Young Americans. Or any of that early Bowie.
The Replacements, The Buzzcocks, The Sex Pistols, The Ramones.
The Clash. The Clash. The Clash.
Guided by Voices. The Fall. Yo La Tengo.
Okay, I'll stop there. I could go on all night.
I'm tagging Sueellen, Michael, Cetta, Desiree, Doug. Let me know if you've already done this meme, and I will call upon another unsuspecting victim.
Or, heck, why not an open invitation? If any of you would like to do it anyway, just for the fun of it, consider yourself tagged....

Josh on a Log
The kids love the beach. This old dead tree has been the subject of many pictures, and the kids can spend hours playing on it.

Flickr
Well, I finally set up a Flickr account so that I could show my photos to friends and family who don't know about Slipstream.
I'd point you to the Flickr account, but in doing so, I would reveal my last name, and then I'd have to kill you. (Joke :) Never mind that most of you (that would be the twenty or so people who actually read this journal) know my last name anyway.
Still, if you are interested in seeing it, let me know, and I'll send you the address.
