Pink Door
What could possibly be kept locked away behind a bright pink door?

Deb Doll
I stole this from Deb over at Chickybabe. It really is addictive - Candy Bar Dollmaker.
Here is my doll:
Okay, so my inner child is really a Japanese manga character. Now tell me I have better things to do with my time. Go make dinner, Deb.

Getting Healthy
Well, two-three times a week at the gym for 12 weeks is finally paying off. I am definitely feeling fitter and healthier, and I'm starting to get some semblance of a body back. The muscles in my arms and legs are getting quite hard and defined.
If only I could lose the baby. Not a real baby, of course, but just the appearance of a baby... I swear I still look five or six months pregnant, and I had the baby two and a half years ago! But, hey, I do have lower abs. They were killing me the other day, so I know they must be there somewhere. It's just a matter of finding them.
I'm training to do a 10 kilometre fun-walk at the end of September, the day before my birthday. I won't be fit enough to run it, but I'll hopefully be able to walk it at a reasonable pace.
The other thing I'm trying to do is get eating under control. I eat when I'm stressed. I eat for comfort. I eat when I'm bored. I eat... and eat... and well, I used to be able to do that and still stay reasonably thin. But not anymore. I've put on at least 10 pounds in the last six months. And it's time to get it off.
It's a long-term thing, though. Everyone at work is doing the Atkins diet, or the Low GI diet, or some other diet. But I don't want to do any particular "diet". I just want to try to build healthy eating into my life.
My trainer gave me the latest diet that the gym is promoting, based on low GI foods. It's a 12 week plan, and you can have so many blocks of this food group, and so many blocks of that food group each day... but in my crazy busy life, I can barely find time to take a shower and get dressed, much less count out blocks of food.
So whatever I do, it's got to fit with an insane lifestyle. And counting calories, counting anything just isn't going to work for me.
Any suggestions gratefully received. Wiring my jaws shut has already been suggested to me, with the added bonus I won't be able to talk either! :)

Briefly It Enters, and Briefly Speaks
I love it when I find a poet that I have not read before. This last week I discovered Jane Kenyon. Like Gwendolyn MacEwan, whom I also discovered recently, Kenyon died young, at the age of 48, of leukemia. What is it about women poets, that they seem to die young?
Briefly It Enters, and Briefly Speaks
by Jane Kenyon
I am the blossom pressed in a book,
found again after two hundred years. . . .
I am the maker, the lover, and the keeper. . . .
When the young girl who starves
sits down to a table
she will sit beside me. . . .
I am food on the prisoner's plate. . . .
I am water rushing to the wellhead,
filling the pitcher until it spills. . . .
I am the patient gardener
of the dry and weedy garden. . . .
I am the stone step,
the latch, and the working hinge. . . .
I am the heart contracted by joy. . .
the longest hair, white
before the rest. . . .
I am there in the basket of fruit
presented to the widow. . . .
I am the musk rose opening
unattended, the fern on the boggy summit. . . .
I am the one whose love
overcomes you, already with you
when you think to call my name. . . .
