Hobbit-mad

Have I mentioned that this town is going absolutely insane with the world premiere of the third Lord of the Rings happening on Monday.

Viggo Mortensen sighted on Willis Street, coming out of Unity Books, my favourite bookshop, barefoot and dressed in green. Liv Tyler creating havoc at Wellington Airport. Four-story posters of Gandalf on the sides of buildings. There is even an entire NZ Post stamp collection with Frodo, Gandalf, Aragorn and Legolas.

And the ringwraiths and Fell Beasts - huge, eerie metal statues perched on top of buildings peering down at passers-by. Incredible.

We are all going hobbit-mad. Speaking of those funny little creatures, what is your hobbit name? Mine is Camellia Sandybanks. Any day now I am sure I will start wearing a cloak and sprouting hair on my toes.

This city rocks at the moment.

26things 2 - More photos

Okay, some more photos for the 26things project - Shadows, Culture and Red

I'm going to have to get a move on if I want to finish this project any time this side of Christmas!

I've been very impressed with other people's photos. Well done.

A Wee Break

Well folks, I'm going to be taking a wee break from Slipstream. There's some stuff I need to be doing, like healing a broken heart, spending more time with my boys, and fixing a broken marriage.

Plus, well, you know, there's Thanksgiving coming up and I'm determined that the boys get to experience some traditional American holidays. Then there's the floors to be sanded and polished, and some painting to be done, and gardening. And I'm going to be seeing a personal trainer to try once and for all to get fit.

So.

I'll be back, and I am going to continue to do the 26things 2 project, so I'll be posting pictures, and maybe even the occasional little update entry. But nothing too major for awhile.

Thanks to all my readers for being such great readers (well, the ones that don't hate me, that is.) You think that's a joke, don't you! Hah, little do you know.

I especially wanted to thank Sueellen here for all the support she has given me recently. She is truly an angel, and it has been more appreciated than she will ever know.

And I'll still be reading you guys, and commenting, so you won't forget me :)

Finally, first photo up for 26things 2 - Closeup.

I definitely think the words are a bit harder this time around.

Logged Out

My five year old, Matthew, never ceases to amaze me.

Every night, after he has gone to bed, he always reappears in the living room or kitchen saying that he can't sleep. We always lead him back to his bed and tuck him in again. This happens 2-5 times every night.

Last night as I tucked him in, I told him to think about what he wanted for Christmas. Matthew has a Christmas Wish List longer than my arm, so I knew this topic would hold his attention for a while. I was hoping it would be long enough for him to get tired and fall asleep.

Three minutes later, though, there he was in the living room doorway.

"Mum" he says "I can't sleep."

"I thought you were thinking about Christmas?"

"Mum, I can't. I just can't login to Christmas in my mind."

"You can't login to Christmas?"

"No, I'm logged out, and I just can't make the connection. What happens when I'm logged out?"

"When you are logged out, that means it's time to sleep."

"Oh, yeah. That's right. When my mind is logged out, then I can sleep." and he goes promptly off to bed and falls asleep.

Do you think that there just might be too many computer-related conversations in our house?
