Crazy Month of May

May has been one of those crazy months for me. There has been a lot happening and I feel like I'm on one of those rollercoaster rides.

Michael has shifted from a home office to an office in town, which is great for his business. But it has completely changed our daily schedule because now both Michael and I are commuting in to town. I usually catch the bus very early - 7:05am - and Michael drops the kids off at childcare with the car.

My alarm goes off at 5:45am. Early mornings are not good. Not good at all. But at least on the bus I can just sit back, close my eyes and daydream.

Once at work, it's straight to the coffee pot, and I down one cup without even leaving the little kitchen on our floor. I take a second cup back to my desk, turn on my computer, take a deep breath and dive in. After that it's pretty much non-stop for the entire day. Days I hate the most are those filled with meetings. Sometimes I get so busy that I even forget to have lunch. That's not good either.

The kids have been great. Matthew is a popular kid, and he is constantly being invited to parties. Man, he has a better social life than we do. And it is expensive! Last week, we had three birthday parties to cart him to, which meant three birthday presents to buy. I've started putting a limit on the amount I'll spend. It just gets too much.

I've also been organising Matthew starting school. We finally chose a little school in the area, the one that his best friend Maggie is going to. He starts on 16th June, which is his fifth birthday. He is so looking forward to it. I'm also organising for him to do soccer on Saturday mornings through the local soccer club here. I never thought I'd become a "soccer mom" but it looks like that is the case.

Joshua is a walking wrecking machine. We've started calling him "Trouble", because that's what he is. He absolutely loves to climb. The other day he climbed on to the kitchen table, fell headfirst, bounced off a chair and on to the floor, picked himself back up and started climbing back up again! Man, that kid is going to be the death of me. I swear.

And he is obsessed with light switches at the moment. On, off, on, off, on, off. Michael said to me today "You don't think he's autistic, do you?" Nah, I said, he's way too social to be autistic. But he does get into a little zone with the light switches.

What else? Well, as you know we shifted computers around at home, rendering me offline for an entire week. I started getting a little twitchy and shaky, I have to confess. Having an internet connection these days is akin to having a phone. Essential.

Oohh, and who has seen Matrix Reloaded? Not me, unfortunately, but I'm dying to see it! I loved the first one, and we all know that Keanu Reeves is the one exception to my older man obsession. Sigh.

Well, it's off to bed for me now. Sweet dreams. I leave you with yet another ship picture.

This was a ship out of Stockholm, en route to Japan. It had engine trouble, so docked at the wharf below us until it was fixed. It's a cargo ship, for carrying cars, and it was BIG!
