September 30 - Bits And Pieces

I scanned some pictures today, of me at various ages from a baby to a teenager. I have this idea of doing an extended "Soundtrack to a Life" piece using them. I'm starting to picture in my head how I might lay it out, what sort of things I might, but the big thing is going to be finding the time to do it. What I wouldn't give for a week at home.

If you live in Wellington you get used to the wind. The key to cycling into a head wind is to use a low enough gear so you can keep up your cadence (revolutions per minute) to a good level - 80 to 90 per minutes is good. Find the right gear, lean down on your handlebars for less wind resistance and try and make smooth clean circles with your legs as you pedal. There's no easy way to cycle into headwinds. This I know.

I was a media star for all of five minutes today. A national radio station devoted exclusively to sport interviewed me for it's weekly minor sport section. I had 30 minutes notice for the interview. Much better than knowing in advance, less time to get nervous. I can even sound as if I know what I'm talking about!

Tess has discovered Matthew's bed. As soon as the door to his room is open, she slinks in and hops up onto his cot. The quilted cover is strewn with cat hairs. She curls up at his feet. I think she will become Matthew's cat.

Had my hand x-rayed yesterday. Should get the results tomorrow, it still feels sore if I move it in the wrong way.

Have spent all night, and much of this afternoon updating my work's website. It is so behind. My time management skills are shit. I personally blame all the other journals on the web. They distract me. They call to me. "Read me Michael, read me", they say. They're incessant.

I have no self-control and I go to bed later and later.
