weather update

highest wind gust in greater wellington region was 207 km/h last night

there was a gust of 166 km/h recorded on a hill just across from our house

It was a bit colder so we had the heater on tonight. And I was lying down beside it reading the paper, and Matthew was beside me under his gymini - a play mat with curved hoops above it dangling rattles and bangles and a yellow baby beanie big bird - and Debbie was sitting in her chair and the cats were stretched out in various positions in the room.

And the wind had died right away and the rain was falling straight down, muffled, a lovely soothing background sound.

And it was dusk.

Matthew laughed when I reached out and tickled him. And he watched tv, cocking his head, intent on the weather forecast for tomorrow.

I smiled at Deb, and let my eyes close, and felt very peaceful.
